Hollywood celebrities gone berserk!
We have seen an influx of tragic circumstances surrounding our Hollywood celebrities. Many of the celebrities that are 'behaving badly' come from seemingly good homes with parents who love and support them. What do you think is happening? Is the fame and money too much at such a young age? How can we help them? Is the media too hard on them? [Brittney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, T.I., Owen Wilson, Amy Winehouse...and others]

I think it's a combination of both the money and fame at such an early age in addition to pressures put on them by their families for support. Although these young folks might want to make the money early and fast, their maturity level isn't there and it's evident by their actions that are captured by the media. The average non-celebrity working adult is working towards building a nest egg, saving for college educations for their children, preparing for retirement, etc. Not splurging on $100k shopping sprees, all night parties, or being promiscuous. For example, with Brittney, it was reported in the media (true or not) that her monthly income is ~$700k, however she does not save or invest in anything. That is completely irresponsible on so many levels. What fiscal guidance did her parents provide her with when she was coming up in this industry? Or were they more concerned about her making this money in order to help support the family? It's interesting how you hear young athletes elect to turn pro with the determination that it is the best thing to do for their "family." They're teenagers - they don't have a family yet that they're required to support! I think these parents need to realize that if they have a young child that could potentially make it in this industry that they teach them humility, fiscal responsibility, and stress the importance of getting an education regardless of whether or not they become a megastar.
I think the important thing to remember is that we are talking about teenagers. Most teenagers do not have the same mindset or maturity as most adults. We can't always expect teenagers to make the same decisions that adults would. Just think back to being a teenager. We all say things such as "if I knew then, what I know now."
I think that much of what some of these celebrities are doing is normal teenage behavior. It is just magnified because of the publicity and the amount of money they spend.
Asking an adult that has a large amount of money to make wise decisions is hard enough, just imagine what it's like for a teenager.
Thank you for your comments! Well stated and appreciated. Fiscal responsibility is a must. There are untold amounts of cases in which young adults who receive a windfall (careers, inheritance, etc.)spend so much money that they are broke in several years.
Fame is hard enough for adults to cope with; so for a teen or young adult that hasn't developed the rationale or decision making skills of older adults? Wow, the pressure is probably overwhelming. Once again thank you for you responses!
I believe that they have some issues they need to work out and they need help. Too much pressure is on them and they have to be willing to recieve help in order for us to give it. The media cant really say anything because they havent been in their situation before and the need to stop it.
I think that that they just had enough of the spotlight and want to get away from it all and Britney Spears is Bipolar. They just dont know how to handle all of this fame yet and the media is too much.
Yes it is true that the celeberties that we see acting atrocious are the ones that come from good homes. I think the media is to hard on them because they dont know what it is really like to be them. I think they arent in the right mind stage right now and the fame and fortune is too much at this young age. Hopefully Miley Cyrus is not next.
i believe that it all depends on the person and how they handle things. Because look at Hilary Duff she hasnt done anything bad and she started at a young age as well. Each person is different they can be weak minded or strong!!
i personally believe that is the fact that they already recieve so much attention, that they are definately addicted to it, so they all will do anything to continue being fame whores for their own personal gain.
Growing up as kids they live a guilt free life, not worried about what others think of you. But once you live in the spot life what others think of you is all that matters. You must keep a nice clean record and do as you are told. You live for others not for yourself. After all if they don’t like you then you don’t make money and you just get dropped out of the spot light. They live with great pressure and so tense that they try to unwind and let go by going out and doing what they consider “fun”. Some run to drugs others run to parting. Most of the time it is things that aren’t leading them to a positive life style. They leave behind the good morals and let go just for one night of good fun. Little do they know it is ruining their whole entire life. Putting their families through so much for their own selfish needs
I am certain,that if the discussion is about young celebrities that the main issue in this is maturity. However, how can there be an excuse for older celebrities? For example, the youth are probably consumed by publicity and fall into deep pressure. I would suspect that the older celebrities are also consumed by fame and feel overwhelmed with stress until finally they crack and ultimately go insane.
I personally believe that is a combantion off miss placed love by parents , letting fame get to their head, and money making decisions ....some times their parents push them to hard in order to have moneu with out knowing if their child wants that career ...not only that lot of famous people right now are letting fame get to them...and juat for 15min of fame they will expose themselves
I think its the fame and money. I think alot of celebrities just sometimes dont care what they do they have all this money jut to blow but i guess they worked for it so we have no say so... iand yes sometimes media is too hard on them. We dnt need to know every bad thing they are doing
I think and i belive that this is just a bussines where everyone makes money no matter how Small or Big the drama is. All of them make money is like a circle that will never end even do if they are dead.
