Miss California recently encountered MUCH controversy after stating that she was against same sex marriage. Why do you think she received so much press-positive and/or negative regarding her opinion? Can we agree to disagree in our society? Or must we be politically correct to be accepted or 'get ahead' in life? Your thoughts........all are welcome...

I think that she recieved so much press because people dont openly say there opinions about gay marrige. I think it offended some gays but she said what she believed in. I didnt think anything was bad about it. At least she didnt lie.
Me personally are all for the gays! She has her opinions which are fine, but i think this whole thing was bigger than it actually was. On the other hand, this was offensive to some gays
She recieved a lot of press because people don't say openly what they feel about this subject. Some people agree with her and others don't. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I believe they should allow gay marriages!!
The whole issue with prop 8, is that everyone is so quick to judge, and feel negative towards anything different than what they are used to. the southern bell recieved so much press because of her back ground and the fact that she stated her opinion publicly. LOVE IS LOVE no matter who you are.
She recieved a lot of attention because there are very few/ almost no one who speak about gay marriage. Very one has there own opinion and she is proud to let everyone know. i don't agree with her i go yes on prop 8 love is with another person no matter what sex you are.
Coming from personal experience, having gay friends & family members, it breaks my heart to see how some people treat them. I`m obviously no on prop 8, but I respect others who are yes on prop 8. The most popular response I hear is that gay marriage goes against their religion, but then again, that`s their religion. We live in a free country and people cannot be selfish enough to have the world run according to them. We only have one life to live, I just don`t understand why people would want to spend it fighting over this prop.
I think that she had gotten soo much fuss about because people are scared to say what they think. Especially if you someone in the public eye. i myself was for prop 8, i believe that a marriage should be only between a man and a woman. because of my religious beliefs.
She got a lot of press because this a touchy topic for most people. I agree with her opinion, gay marriage is definetly not okay.
Miss California clearly wanted to state her opinion in a way that would make her look like a good role model for California. It received a lot of press because this is one of the most controversial props and many people are either for or against it. I think she made many enemies because of it and isn't a favorite to gays now.Some people can agree to disagree but there are other gays who just want support an want negativity towards them and their partners to end.
if i was miss california i wouldnt say anything at all. alot of gay or bisexual fans she used to have hate her now. ha. some people may agree with her and then again alot of peopl dont. its just what peolple believe in and how they were raised.
I personally believe anyone can marry anyone or anything they want, it's up to them and I don't have any right to stand between them yet other people do. It's just not right, not right at all. She said her opionion which I respect as a human being, she can beleive whatever he wants to believe. I think she probably believes the world resolves around her and he she loved the whole attention thing she was getting, but people have the right to marry whoever they want its freedom. And miss California doesn't respect that one bit.
i dont have any problem with gay people. they are not hurting me and there not effecting me at all they pay taxes and bills, they eat just like us they live there life just like any regular ordinary human being, if they choose to be with same sex partner thats there choice and in the end its between them and god. i support gay people all the way.
California received so much feedback both goof and bad because Californians are so very use to expressing their opinion even when it is not welcome. Personally I feel like we could never agree because we are surrounded by so many different controversial minds who think so many different thoughts.
there is a lot of contraversy on same sex marriages regarless your approval or non-approval of the subject but I believe homosexual or not, people need to respect the decisions of everyone. Miss California had her opinion and there was no reason for the press to become so involved.

It's sad to say but people say everyone has the right to their own opinion, but what we're really saying is you have the right to state the opinion that is more accepted and if not then your wrong. It took guts to state her views like that on t.v which I respect. Even if it offended some people we have to remember that she has her thoughts just like other people have theirs. We people should learn to take things not so personally like everyone is attacking them as if it was directed towards them.
I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but some things are better left unsaid. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it. I have nothing wrong with same sex marriage and believe that love is love. It shouldn't matter to anyone else how others feel.
This subject is very sensitive, to all. Gay or not. Everyone has their own opinion, mine is that i do not mind if someone is gay, however i believe that marriage itself should be between a man and a woman. Though i have never been one to criticize. i am deeply sorry for those who have been tormented by others about their sexuality.
God loves all his children and respects our decisions ....God never looks down on us ...so therefore why can't we all just love eachother and respect one an other ...doesn't matter you gay or straight God has taught us better and in my opinion we should all just mind our own business and let others be happy because deep down I know that is what God will want us to do
Prop 8 is very delicate case since there's people out there who speak their minds without any regards. In my opinion I don't have a problem with i and i believe that marriage should be between a couple that love each other. I think she received so much press because she had an open mind about it and some people didn't like it.
honestly i say no to prop 8 that's just me, i think it is not right to have gay marriage on my beliefs.
